The City of Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department announced today that resurfacing through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds is scheduled to begin next week for both the Singleton Station Road and Calderwood Street areas of the City. The City’s contractor will be resurfacing Calderwood Street between Joule Street south to the Maryville City limits and Singleton Station Road from Alcoa Highway south to Cusick Road.

Pavement milling is set to begin on August 4th on Calderwood Street. The actual resurfacing will begin on August 8th with the completion of the entire job by August 11th. The majority of the resurfacing work will occur between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for both Singleton Station Road and Calderwood Street.

Motorists traveling through the area will need to allow a few extra minutes to reach their destination. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution in the work area.
