The City of Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department today announced that stormwater construction may cause some traffic delays this week in part of the City. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2010, the section of Louisville Road between Bessemer Street and the greenway parking area, behind Dick’s Sporting Goods, will be closed. West Bound Bessemer Street between Calderwood Street and the entrance to K-Mart, past McCammon Avenue will be closed. East Bound Bessemer will remain open and be restricted to one lane. Contractor, Keck Enterprises, will begin work at 6:00 p.m. Sunday and should complete the work Monday morning, weather permitting. Traffic will be maintained along Bessemer Street by flagmen who will also maintain the flow of traffic to and from McCammon Avenue which will remain open. Motorists traveling through the area may want to choose an alternate route around the work or allow a few extra minutes to reach their destination. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution in the work area. | |
