10/28/2010 Lane Closures and Rolling Roadblocks Scheduled for U.S. 129 Bypass

The City of Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department announced today that on Sunday, October 31, 2010 there will be lane closures on the U.S. 129 Bypass to allow for Bell & Associates, the Greenway Pedestrian Bridge contractor, to pour the bridge’s concrete deck. These closures will occur between the Hall Road split and the Louisville Road intersection. Starting at 7:00 a.m., the right, southbound lane of U.S. 129 will be closed at the bridge. “Rolling roadblocks” will then be used as the concrete is poured onto the bridge deck that spans the highway. The contractor expects all work to be complete and all lanes open to traffic by 2:00 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during these closures and urged to exercise caution if traveling through this work zone. These closures will be rescheduled if there is a threat of inclement weather.
