05/01/2007 Installation of Bypass Lighting Begins | |

The City of Alcoa Electric Department announced today that it will begin the installation of the new bypass streets lights at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Weather permitting, crews will begin pole installation for the lights along the southbound side of U.S. Highway 129 between the bypass split at Hall Road and the Louisville Road intersection. This will require the partial closure of the right-hand outside lane of the highway as the crews progress toward Louisville Road. Installation should be complete within a few days after which work will begin on installation of the northbound lighting. Lane closures will not be required for the northbound work. If installation is delayed due to inclement weather, work will begin on the first suitable day thereafter. The public is asked to use patience and common sense while in traffic around the vicinity. The new street lighting is funded by the City of Alcoa is provided as a public service and for the safety of its citizens and the community. | |
