09/20/2007    Water Treatment Unit Catches Fire

The City of Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department announced today that one of its old treatment units caught fire today at approximately 12:48 p.m. The tank, located at the site of the City’s abandoned water treatment plant, was in the process of being demolished by Southern Constructors / Total Demolition Services when the blaze occurred. There was no danger to the public or surrounding community and no one was injured as a result of the fire. The City of Alcoa Fire Department had the fire under control at 1:25 p.m.
