The City of Alcoa invites its residents and the community to join in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Alcoa Pistol Creek Phase III Greenway Connector to Meadowood Apartments. This ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 7, at 3:30 p.m. at the east end of the trail where it joins the Meadowood Apartments sidewalk at 944 N. Wright Road. The .65 mile long trail connector links residents at Meadowood Apartments to the existing 10 miles of the Alcoa and Maryville greenway. The total cost of the extension was approximately $53,000 of which 80% was funded by a Tennessee Department of Transportation Enhancement Grant. Construction was done by City crews and was completed in 21 working days. Mayor Don Mull stated, “This connector serves as a safe way for the Meadowood children to safely travel to and from the Alcoa network of schools. Meadowood area residents can now walk, jog, run or bike to the schools, Springbrook Park and other Alcoa neighborhoods.” -END- | |
