911 Board of Directors

Description: The board consists of the following ex officio members: Alcoa Police Chief, Alcoa Fire Chief, Maryville Police Chief, Maryville Fire Chief, Blount County Sheriff. Other members include Judge William Brewer, County Commissioner Steve Hargis, County Commissioner Bob Kidd and a 9th member chosen by the board, Bob Arwood.

Blount County Cable Television Authority

Description: The authority is composed of nine members, three of whom are appointed by the City of Alcoa, three appointed from the City of Maryville, and three appointed from Blount County. The authority regulates the operation of cable television service in Blount County.

Blount County Community Action Agency

Description: The Blount County Community Action Agency is governed by a diverse group of people who represent the people served by its programs, local government and the community at large. Community Action Agencies (CAAs) are nonprofit private and public organizations established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America?s War on Poverty. Community Action Agencies assist low-income, needy and/or elderly individuals to help themselves in achieving self-sufficiency

Blount County Hospital Board of Directors

Description: The Blount Memorial Hospital Board of Directors is comprised of nine members elected for three-year renewable terms. Four directors are appointed by the Blount County Commission, two by the City of Maryville, two by the City of Alcoa, and one by the Board of Trustees of Maryville College.

Authorized By: The board of directors is authorized by the Blount Memorial Hospital, Incorporated, State of Tennessee Charter of Incorporation.

Meets: The fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Blount County Library Board

Description: A seven-member board appointed by the Blount County Commission, the City of Alcoa Board of Commissioners and the Maryville City Council. The Board shall employ a Library Director; determine the mission, goals, programs objectives of the Library; approve an annual budget; help secure adequate funds to carry out the Library?s programs; report regularly to the public and governing officials; and follow legal, professional and ethical practices when making decisions and carrying out responsibilities.

According to the Bylaws, by May 1 of each year the Board shall recommend to the Blount County Commission , the City of Alcoa Board of Commissioners and the Maryville City Council persons for membership in accordance with the provisions as set forth in the TCA 10-3-103(b)(1)(A) and 10-5-102.

Blount County Rescue Squad

Description: Governed by an eleven-member board of directors consisting of one person appointed from each of the following: the City of Maryville, the City of Alcoa, the Knoxville Metropolitan Airport Authority, Blount Memorial Hospital, the Blount County Mayor, and the Steel Workers Local Union 309. The captain and chief of the membership will automatically be members and three others selected by the membership of the squad.

Blount County Solid Waste Board Members

Description: The Blount County Solid Waste Board establishes the organizational structure and rule of procedure for the county’s solid waste compliance with T.C.A. 68-211-813. The board consists of eleven members. Seven are appointed by the County Mayor, two by the City of Alcoa, and two by City of Maryville. All members must be approved by the Blount County Commission.

Parks & Recreation Commission

Description: The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of seven memers; two each from the Cities of Alcoa and Maryville and Blount County and one member appointed by Recreation & Parks Commission. One of the two government appointees must be an elected official and one at large member. Ex-officio members are the two City Managers and the Blount County Judge.

Authorized By: The Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission was formed in 1970 by an ordinance authorizing the establishment and participation by the City of Maryville, City of Alcoa, and Blount County to administer a Parks and Recreation system.
