Personal Accomplishments:
Commissioner Bledsoe has deep roots in Alcoa. Born in Blount County, he spent his childhood growing up in Alcoa. His father was a carpenter for the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa, Inc). His mother was a homemaker raising their 10 children. Older brother, Tim, was a former city commissioner; his uncle, Don, is the former Director of Public Works; and nephew, Tim, is the current Business Office Manager.
He attended Alcoa City Schools from Springbrook Elementary through Alcoa High School graduating in 1968. While in high school, he lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He captained the basketball team while continuing his education at Hiwassee College. Through the years, he has been a big supporter of Alcoa sports not only by attending ballgames, but also by serving the community as a coach in the Alcoa Little League, Alcoa Biddy League and as a Parks and Recreation football coach. In 1970, he began a 25-year career in the Air Force at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia. After spending 18 months at Moody, he transferred to McGhee Tyson Air Base where he spent the rest of his career in several different supervisory capacities. He presently is a Judicial Commissioner at the Blount County Courthouse.
Commissioner Bledsoe and his wife are the parents of two sons, and grandparents to two granddaughters and one grandson.
